Late Harvest 2014

We left our 2014 Gewürztraminer out in the harvest sun for an extended period to raisin, then hand-picked, sorted, added Pinot Gris 4-5 weeks past its physiological ripeness, then slowly pressed (100% whole bunch) and rapidly cooled the must, prior to a long, cool fermentation. Cold-settled for a further seven months before bottling allowed the wine to develop harmony between its high sweetness and residual fruit acidity.

Bright golden-yellow colour already showing good depth. A decadent nose of ripe exotic fruits, marmalade, honey and musk. Very sweet to taste, with a good fruit/acid balance, the mouthfeel is filling with a lingering long, finish. Densely textured, unctuous and luscious, it is already starting to show the caramel toffee and barley sugar notes that will emerge with age. Enjoy in moderation over the next 4-5 years with blue cheeses or crème brulee.  Bottled in 375ml Flute BVS.
